Overview

 

Completion of this course will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to develop, review, and update an asthma risk assessment and emergency management strategy and to recognise and respond safely to an asthma episode using asthma related first aid interventions. This course applies to workers who have a duty of care requirement and work in a wide range of settings where emergencies involving asthma episodes may occur. The worker’s duty of care requirement may be an industry, legislative and/or specific organisation/workplace requirement. 22702VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies supersedes and is not equivalent to 22556VIC Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace. Nominal hours 4.

Key Learning Outcomes

 

  • Develop a risk minimisation and emergency management plan for an asthma episode.

  • Assess emergency asthma situations.

  • Apply the appropriate first aid procedures for an asthma episode.

  • Communicate details of emergency asthma incidents.

  • Evaluate responses to asthma emergencies
